December Striper Fishing Was Very Good on Lake Texoma |
|
January 30, 2007 The forecast for the next week is for lows in the lower 20’s and highs in the 40’s. It will be mostly cloudy with 5 to 15 MPH NNE winds with a 50% chance of sleet Wednesday and a 40% chance of rain Thursday. Friday there will be a 20% chance of rain. Saturday and Sunday will be partly cloudy with lows in the lower 20s and highs in the 30s. This striper fishing is great if you can stand the bitter cold. Remember, this is Texas and it could very easily be in the 60s next week. We had 163 fishermen brave the cold weather to fish in December. They brought a total of 1,430 stripers to the cleaning table. Only 68 fishermen took on the colder and wetter January weather. They brought in 313 stripers. You can see the pictures of the fish caught during December and the few days we could get on the lake during January on www.tinker.net. We are leaving the dock as early as 7:30 AM for our morning trips. It will be getting dark before 6:00 PM. With the shorter daylight hours our afternoon trips will begin around noon or earlier. The bottom line is that you can depart about any time you want to for February trips and catch limits of stripers. The early morning bite is preferred by most hardcore fishermen. The late bite is super during the full moon. As of 8:00 AM, Tuesday, January 30 the water pool level was 616.29 feet, up 1.8 feet since November 21. The normal annual pool level is 617 feet. The water temperature is 46 degrees. This is 15 degrees cooler than it was on November 21. The Corps of Engineers is going to generate from 5:00 AM until 10:00 AM this week. Sunrise this morning was 7:24 AM and sunset will be at 5:55. There are 11 hours and 23 minutes of visible light. Yesterday’s low was 33 degrees and the high was 48 degrees. Our guides furnish tackle, bait and friendly instruction for you. Everything is furnished except food, drinks, licenses and rain gear.
