Spring Break is an Excellent Opportunity
to Introduce Your Children to the Outdoors March 3, 2005.
We started
the morning at 45 degrees. It was cloudy with a light south wind. Sunrise
was at 6:52. Sunset will be 6:25. There will be 12 hours and 23 minutes
of visible daylight. The forecast is for a high in the 60s and cloudy with
8 mph south winds. The forecast for the rest of the week is for cloudy skies,
highs in the lower 60s and lows in the high 40s with a light southerly wind.
There is a slight chance for a thunderstorm on Friday. The temperature
and winds have been excellent for fishing the first three days of the month
and the forecast looks promising for the rest of the month.
Spring break begins on March 7th for several school districts in north Texas and southern Oklahoma. Other districts begin spring break on the 14th or 21st. You can see children in nearly every boat on Lake Texoma during March. Each year Tinker’s Guide Service fishes a child at half price with each paying adult. Children under seven ride free. Fishing Lake Texoma with a guide is the way to have quality time with your children at a very affordable price. Everything is furnished except food, drinks, licenses and rain gear. Children from seven to twelve years old will have the opportunity to catch a large striper this year. Seeing the excitement and expressions of a child reeling in a large striper is an unforgettable experience. Don’t forget to bring your camera. Our guides all have children of their own and love to fish the young ones. Lake Texoma had excellent weather and lake conditions for striper and blue cat fishing during February. The water pool level is 616.21, which is very close to the normal annual pool level. The water temperature is holding at 48 degrees and the lake is clear to two feet on the main body of water. The generating schedule is for one unit twenty-four hours each day. The moon will be full on March 25th. Our anglers have been landing several stripers between ten and twenty pounds. Live shad has worked very well. Many of the stripers have been caught on Cohos, Sassy Shad and Horse Hair Jigs fishing under or near feeding gulls. The east side of the lake and the Washita River has been best for Striper fishing during February. Our boats have been departing the boathouse between 7:00 and 10:00 am. and 1:00 and 3:00 pm. Afternoons have been super for both striper and catfish. Many of our anglers prefer later departures when the temperature is much more pleasant. You will be on the lake late when fishing in the afternoon. Make plans to stay overnight in our free guestrooms and enjoy the new game room. We have had exhibits in boat, sport and outdoor shows in Kansas City, Mesquite, Abilene, Amarillo, Dallas, Odessa and Oklahoma City during the past few weeks. We will be in Tyler, Sweetwater and Lubbock the next three weekends. If you are going to be in one of these areas, you are invited to stop by and visit with us at our display. There will be a drawing for a free fishing trip at each show that includes lodging. We are offering show discounts for fishing and lodging at each show. FREE FISHING TRIP WINNERS
