Fishing Report
 

February 7, 2005.
We started the morning at 45 degrees. It was cloudy with a 10 mph north wind during the day and the high was only in the high 50s. Sunrise was at 7:18. After10 hours and 45 minutes of visible daylight the sun set at 6:03.

The forecast is for a high of 60 degrees and cloudy with 8 mph north wind. There is a chance of showers Tuesday. The temperature the rest of the week should be highs in the lower 50s and lows in the high 30s.

During January Lake Texoma had excellent weather and lake conditions for striper and blue cat fishing. The water pool level is 616.46, which is very close to the normal annual pool level. The water temperature is holding at 46 degrees and the lake is clear to four feet on the main body of water. The generating schedule is for one unit twenty-four hours each day. The moon will be full on February 23rd.

Doug Cavin from Wildorado, Texas fished with guide Roger Hill on January 23, 2005. He came prepared to break the IGFA state line record with four pound test line. Doug only needed to catch an eight pound Striper to break the record. Fishing with a Tsunami two inch Sand Ell lure with an olive back (Academy) on four pound Extreme Off Shore Angler Line (Bass Pro) and using an Okuma Epixor spinning reel (Cabela’s) on a Salt Striker Travel Rod (Cabela’s), Doug shattered the existing record landing a whopping twenty pound striper.

Each of the last four years has produced more and more ten pound plus fish by our anglers. Our customers have caught several silversides ranging between twenty-six and thirty pounds in the last four years. The goal for this year is a thirty-six pound striper, which would be a new lake record. Our customers have caught seventeen stripers over fifteen pounds since January 1.

Our boats have been departing the boathouse between 7:00 and 10:00 am. Afternoons have been super for both striper and catfish. Many of our anglers prefer later departures when the temperature is much more pleasant. You will be on the lake late when fishing in the afternoon. Make plans to stay overnight in our free guestrooms and enjoy the new game room.

We have had exhibits in boat, sport and outdoor shows in Kansas City, Mesquite, Abilene, Amarillo and Dallas during the past few weeks. We will be in Odessa and Oklahoma City the next two weekends. If you are going to be in one of these areas, you are invited to stop by and visit with us at our display. There will be a drawing for a free fishing trip at each show that includes lodging. We are offering show discounts for fishing and lodging during each show.
