This morning was chilly with an overnight low of 15. Sunrise was 7:32 AM and sunset was 5:33 PM. The high today was 41. Winds were out of the northeast 10 to 15 mph. Thursday the high is going to be in the upper 50s with south winds 10 to 20 mph. By the weekend we are going to be warmer with the lows in the 30s and highs in the 60s. The lake is as low as it has been since 1957. The water temperature has only dropped three degrees in the last thirty days. You will find the fish in 35’ to 40’ of water close to the river channels. Drifting 4” Storm Wide Eye or Sassy Shad in chartreuse or glo colors is working real good just off the bottom. Fishing between Highport Marina and the highway 377 bridge is producing large stripers. You may have to reduce the size of your lure to a two and a half inch Coho Minnow or use live bait to catch fish under 20”. All of the female stripers are full of eggs. Two pounds and larger sand bass are being caught on the 4” lures. The striper fishing is great right now. The topwater action is fantastic all day long. Now is the time to come to Lake Texoma and catch double digit fish. Watch for the gulls feeding and you will find the large stripers and sand bass under them. Our anglers are still landing more and more double digit stripers. Afternoon fishing has been super for both striper and catfish. Many of our anglers prefer afternoons when the temperature is much warmer than early in the morning. This time of the year remember to always wear layers of clothing, insulated boots and have wet weather gear available in case of showers. If the wind is high, a hooded rain suit makes a great wind barrier. Don’t let the cold weather keep you off the lake. When you are catching fish at this time of the year, you will never notice the weather. The David Thomson group from Blancher Oklahoma left the dock at 7:30 AM on December 20th with guide Roger Hill. Everyone had a great time bringing several nice size stripers to the cleaning table with the biggest one weighing in at 8 pounds Roger, Chris, Trevor and Cameron from Austin Texas, with guide David Escamilla, went out on the afternoon of December 21st for a fishing adventure that they could not believe. Catching stripers from 4 to 13 pounds was just too easy. These are some pictures you don’t want to miss on www.tinker.net. Saturday December 27th I finally got my secretary, Brenda, out of the office with John Beall from Austin Texas and Larry Wilson from Denison. They left the dock about 3:00 PM. I didn’t think she was going to come back to the office after guide David Escamilla put them on really large stripers. She said she had rather be fishing than working in the office. Everyone had a blast. You can see Brenda showing off the catch of the day on my website, www.tinker.net. The John Wilson party from Moore Oklahoma went out at 10:00 AM on Sunday, December the 28th with guide David Escamilla. They got on the striper quick, catching there limit early. The talk of the day was the 50 pound blue catfish they caught on a 4” Sassy Shad. Friday, January 2nd Roger Hill picked up Paul Preston and his daughter Jaclyn at Grand Pappy Marina for an early morning fishing adventure. The only mistake they made was keeping their 20” + stripers early. Later in the day they found a school of double digit fish and had to throw back eight of the large stripers.
