Winter Fishing Lake Texoma
Saturday, November 29, 2003
Water pool level: 612.50, normal annual pool level is 617 feet.
Water temperature: 54 degrees.  Water clarity: clear.
Generating Schedule: Not generating.

Today was nice with the low this morning 30 degrees and a light south wind. The high today was 62 degrees.  The extended forecast for the coming week is for lows in the upper 40s and highs in the middle 70s. There is no rain in the forecast for the next seven days.  Sunrise was 7:10 AM and sunset was 5:18 PM.

The lake is as low as it has been in several years and the water temperature has dropped a few degrees.  The striper fishing is still as good as it gets on Lake Texoma.  Limits of stripers up to 8 pounds are being caught in less than an hour.  Large blue catfish are breaking our lines.  The topwater action is fantastic all day long Larger stripers, up to 17 pounds, are being caught on topwater lures, jigs and sassy shads in several different locations on the lake.  If you like this type of action now is the time to come to Lake Texoma.

Always wear layers of clothing, insulated boots and have wet weather gear available in case of showers.   If the wind is high, a hooded rain suit makes a great wind barrier.  Don't let the cold weather keep you off the lake.  When you are catching fish as fast as you can at this time of the year, you will never notice the weather.

Afternoons have been super for both striper and catfish.  Many of our anglers prefer afternoons when the temperature is much more pleasant than early in the morning.  For the last week it has made no difference whether you went out fishing in the morning or afternoon. Some of the larger stripers have been caught during the afternoon trips.

Every boat that has gone out in the last twenty days has caught limits of stripers.  Many of my customers call and want to know when the fishing is the best and if topwater action has started.  I can not impress on you enough about how great the fishing is right now and yes the topwater action has started.
