Lake Texoma Fishing Report

Monday, July 7, 2003

Water pool level: 619.21, normal annual pool level is 617 feet.

Water temperature: 84 degrees.  Water clarity: clear.

Generating Schedule: 6 AM till 11 PM.

Today was partly cloudy with a light south wind.  The extended forecast is for lows in the 70s and highs in the 90s. There is a chance of afternoon thunderstorms Tuesday.

I fished through the holiday weekend.  The holiday fishing was not as good as July normally is.  There was a lot of boat traffic and the lake was rough.  Many of my favorite fishing spots were impossible to fish because of the traffic.  Things have settled down now and the fishing will be much better the rest of the summer.

Topwater Action

If you like to throw topwater lures, now is the time to come to Lake Texoma.  Early mornings and late afternoons are the best times to fish for stripers on the surface.  I have seen the silversides feeding on top all day long when it is cloudy to partly cloudy.  I have spinning reels and bait casting reels for you to use.  If you have a favorite rod and reel you like, bring it with you and I will furnish the lures.
