Lake Texoma Fishing Report

Water pool level: 619.46, 2.46 feet over normal annual pool level.

Water temperature: 80 degrees.  Water clarity: clear.

The Corps is generating from 1pm till 10 pm during the week.

The topwater and slab fishing is super.  Surfacing stripers can be found feeding from the dam to the islands early.  Several large stripers have been reported caught behind the Islands late in the afternoon and into the night. The best topwater lures are Zara Spooks, Pencil Poppers and Striper Swipers. After the fish are run down by the boats, tie on an ounce and a half or two ounce slab.  The better colors have been green and white or chartreuse and white with a red dot.

On Sunday, June 30th, Captain Joe Grigar took Randy Newman from Ennis, Texas and his three guests out at daylight.  They returned to the dock around noon with 50 stripers, the largest weighing a little over three pounds. They caught and released twenty-nine more silversides.  What a problem to have!!  Randy was the previous winner in the boathouse drawing.  After fishing his free trip back in April, he had so much fun he had to get a group together and fish with us again.

The lake is going to be very crowded over the July 4th weekend. Be aware of all the boats and watch for large cruiser wakes.  Early morning fishing will be good until around 10am when the lake will start to get crowded with pleasure boats.  As good as fishing has been the last few days; the fishermen should have their limit by then.
