Striper Guide Service Fishing Report |
| Dateline: Lake
Texoma Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, June 25,26
& 27, 2001.
Lake level: 618.20. Water Temperature: 78 degrees. Water clarity: Clear. Generation: 9:00 a.m. till 11:00 p.m. Floodgates: Closed. Weather: low 66 / high 91 / cloudy with thunderstorms, .58” rainfall Wednesday. Fishing time: 5:30 a.m. till 11:30 a.m. Monday thru Wednesday produced limits of stripers and several catfish. On Monday three boats caught 98 stripers and 8 catfish using shiners in the damn area. Tuesday Captain Joe Grigar brought in 39 stripers to 5.5# and 9 catfish to 3.5# fishing on the east bank of the main lake. Wednesday heavy thunderstorms cut the fishing trip a little short. Bob Exum with his family of five caught 33 stripers to 3.5# and 8 catfish to 3# before the storms started rolling in from Oklahoma. All of their fish were caught from west Burns Run north to Alberta Creek Marina using small gizzard shad and shiners. This was the first time this year we were able to catch shad small enough to fish with. It took about two hours to catch a hundred of the 2.5 to 3 inch gizzard shad. Without
our usual large schools of threadfin shad, large schools of stripers are
hard to find. Summer fishing has gotten here early. Get out
your two ounce slabs and a noisy topwater lure or two and enjoy chasing
the stripers early in the mornings.
