Striper Guide Service Fishing Report |
| Dateline: Lake
Texoma Wednesday, June 13, 2001.
Lake level: 618.96. Water Temperature: 74 degrees. Water clarity: Clear. Generation: Both units 24 hours. Floodgates: Moderate discharge. Weather: low 68 / high 88 / clear. Fishing time: Sunday and Monday, 5:30 a.m. till 11:00 a.m. Fishing was very slow Saturday both on the morning and afternoon trips. Captains Joe Grigar and Doug
Smith carried out seven fishermen early Sunday. Anchored in 32 to
34 feet of water north of TI point, the fishermen reeled in 68 stripers
to 7#. 95% of the fish were caught before 8:00 a.m. This was
one of our better trips in the last week. Overall, fishing has been
spotty to poor the last two weeks. One day we catch a limit of fish
before 8 a.m. and the next day catch only seven or more fish all day long. In the past 20 years I have seen two other times Texoma was short of threadfin shad. Both of those times and now the striper are losing weight fast. This seems to make the fish sick and they don’t feed as good as they normally would. If the fish were in good condition with the water temperature only 74 degrees and the lake two feet high fishing would be super, Tinker’s Striper Guide Service, http://www.tinker.net
